It doesn’t seem 5 minutes since we finished the last season & already we are playing pre season friendlies!! It was a big step up from Mini Soccer to 11 a side & full size pitch but Walesby adapted really well after a nervy first 5 minutes! Straight from KO we let the ball drift back into our area & after trying to scramble it away, Clipstone hit a speculative shot from the edge of the box to take the lead! Our heads didn’t drop & we gradually started to control the half, having the majority of the posession. We were pushing for an equaliser & Brandon forced their keeper into a great save & only a couple of minutes later hit the ball wide when scoring seemed easier!!!! It wasn’t long before he found his scoring ways again though, breezing through the defence & calmly slotting the ball past the goalkeeper. For the remainder of the half Walesby looked comfortable & should have reached half time at 1-1 but after a poor clearance fell to the Clipstone striker he had an easy finish! Clipstone came out in the 2nd half buzzing as they were passing the ball around with ease & it took Walesby a while to settle down. Once they dit it was end to end stuff and both teams showed some nice pieces of skill & great passing & moving. Midway through the half Brandon got his second after latching on to a great long ball from Alex, he left their defence for dead & smashed home his & Walesby’s second! A draw would have probably been a fair result but I don’t think Brandon agreed as he wanted a hat trick! Brandon positioned himself about 25 yards from goal & Clipstones goal kick went straight to him & he smashed it back on the volley into the top corner!!! What a strike (that’ll cost his dad a few quid I’m sure). This was a really good game played in the right way & at a good pace throughout, so well done to both sides & good luck to you all for the forthcoming season! The man of the match was given to Brandon for obvious reasons but there were a few other players that could have stolen it from him!
